The IEFC - Institut d'Estudis Fotografics
de Catalunya is a non-profit Cultural
Association. Since its foundation in
the year 1972, the primary aim has been
the promotion and popularization of
Photography, in all of its aspects,
with the philosophy of a public service
entity.
One of the most important tasks is and
has been the teaching of Photography
carried out in the School of Photography,
whose training offering contains different
types of courses:
Induction Courses addressed to people
interested in the basic knowledge of
analogical and digital Photography.
General Photography Course which, with
a 4-year program, offers a wide and
strong training for the future photographer
both in the professional and creative
level.
Specialization Courses which widen the
technical, scientific, historical, creative
and professional knowledge.
This training is completed with teacher-training
courses, recycling courses for professionals,
children´s courses, courses for
young people, and popularization seminars.
During the academic year 2008-09, instruction
is given to 682 students, out of who
553 are taking the General Photography
Course while 96 students are taking
the Induction Courses. For the development
of this work, it has been necessary
to configure an experienced and professional
group of professors, a methodology that
combines the theory and practical application
of photography over chemical and digital
devices, a constant research and updating
of programs and contents, reduced groups
that allow a personalized tracking of
the student, and spaces, facilities
and technical equipments that allow
the student to have an individual and
efficient learning.
All of this has turned the School into
a referent of the teaching of Photography
in our country in the last 30 years.
More than 11,000 students has been in
the classrooms, being many of them servicing
the society in the photographic scope,
in the professional and artistic, academic,
cultural, business and services areas
nowadays.
