The 17th century building
that in its day was the
house of the Abbot of the
Abbey of St. Miguel of Ampudia,
in the heart of Castilla-León,
has retained practically
its entiry originality while
being completely refurbished.
The integration of an atmosphere
of the old with the most
modern and advanced technology
expected from a present
day 4 star hotel has been
made possible by the arquitect
Ángel García
Puertas.
With its stately porch entrance,
it can be found embedded
in the principle square,
and is considered one of
the most emblematic buildings
of the town, with a beautiful
tower and an inhabited castle.
Even though there have been
various modifications to
the building throughout
its time, the materials
used in its construction
are typical of the region,
stone in the socles and
the gangway at the entrance,
big adobe walls, wooden
platforms and beams. The
wrought iron balconies as
well as many of the interior
doors are the originals
form the 17th century.
Facilities on offer include
a welcoming foyer with reception
desk, hotel safe, and cloakroom.
El Arambol, the restaurant
awarded a Michelin star,
is a perfect example of
the fusion of the past and
the present that is experienced
in the hotel. It is a warm
and welcoming space created
in the former wine cellar
which serves traditional
dishes brilliantly reinvented
by the chef Joaquin Koerper.
